# Custom dashboards

> Build your own home screen from widgets, set a default, and share dashboards with your team.

## Overview

The **Dashboard** in the sidebar (`/`) starts as a built-in layout called
**Overview**. You can customize it or create more dashboards, each made of
widgets (one tile each) that you add, resize, and reorder. Every saved dashboard
has its own address (`/dashboards/:id`). You switch between them from the
dashboard selector (the dropdown) next to the period filter.

<Tip>
  **In short:** 1) Click **Customize** to add, move, and resize widgets. 2) Create more dashboards from the selector. 3) Share one, or make it your default.
</Tip>

<Info>
  **Time to complete:** \~15 minutes  ·  **Difficulty:** Beginner  ·  Changes save automatically while you
  customize.
</Info>

## Before you start

* Any [role](/getting-started/glossary#role) that can open the Dashboard —
  **Owner**, **Admin**, **Manager**, **Agent**, or **Viewer** — can create and
  manage their own dashboards.
* Dashboards are personal by default (**Only me**). You choose whether to share
  each one.
* Only **Owners** and **Admins** can set a dashboard as the
  [workspace](/getting-started/glossary#workspace) default.

## Create a dashboard

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the selector" icon="chevron-down">
    On the **Dashboard**, click the dashboard selector (it shows **Overview** until
    you create one) and choose **New dashboard…**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Name it and pick a starting point" icon="pen">
    Enter a **Name** (up to 60 characters; each of your dashboards needs a unique
    name). Under **Starting point**, choose **Standard layout** to start with the
    default set of widgets, or **Blank** to start empty.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose who can access it" icon="user-group">
    Under **Assign users**, keep **Only me**, or pick **Everyone in workspace** or
    **Selected people**. You can change this later.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create" icon="check">
    Click **Create**. The new dashboard opens right away.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  Clicking **Customize** on the built-in **Overview** saves it as a dashboard
  named **Overview** and makes it your default. That way your edits have
  somewhere to live.
</Note>

## Edit the layout

<Steps>
  <Step title="Click Customize" icon="sliders">
    The **Add a widget** gallery opens. Browse by category (**Marketing**,
    **Conversations**, **Analytics**, **Appointments**, **Workspace**), use
    **Search widgets…**, or pick from **Recommended**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add widgets" icon="plus">
    Click **Preview** to see an example and what the widget shows, then **Add**
    (or **Add to dashboard**). Gallery previews are marked **Example** — they use
    sample numbers, not your data.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Arrange and resize" icon="up-down-left-right">
    Drag a widget by its handle to reorder it. Open **Widget actions** on a widget
    to change its **Size** or **Remove** it. Sizes are **Small**, **Medium**,
    **Large**, **Extra large**, and **Full width** — each widget offers only the
    sizes that suit it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Finish" icon="circle-check">
    Use **Undo** and **Redo** as needed, then click **Done**. Edits save
    automatically — there is no separate save button.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Widgets you can add

| Category          | Widgets                                                                                                              |
| ----------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Marketing** | **Campaign Performance**, **Channels Engagement**, **Poll Insights**, **Web Form Performance**, **Link Performance** |
| **Conversations** | **Active Conversations**, **Reply Rate**, **AI vs Human**, **Unread Conversations**, **Recent Inbox** |
| **Analytics**     | **Opt-out Rate**, **Opt-out Trends**                                                                                 |
| **Appointments**  | **Appointments Today**                                                                                               |
| **Workspace** | **Quick Actions**, **Usage Snapshot**, **Setup Progress** |

Analytics widgets follow the dashboard's period filter. **Quick Actions** shows
only the shortcuts your role allows, and **Usage Snapshot** appears in the gallery
only if you can view billing. See [Dashboard](/analytics/dashboard) for what each
standard widget shows.

<Note>
  Widgets have no individual settings beyond size and position — you can't
  rename a widget or give it its own date range or filter. Each widget can appear
  once per dashboard.
</Note>

## Rename, duplicate, or delete

Open the selector and click **Dashboard actions** (⋮) next to a dashboard:

* **Edit** — change the name and, if you own it, who can access it.
* **Duplicate** — creates a private copy named "Copy of …" that you own. This
  works on dashboards shared with you, too.
* **Delete** — owner only. Confirm in **Delete dashboard?**; this cannot be
  undone, and everyone it was shared with loses it.

## Set a default dashboard

* **Set as default** makes a dashboard — your own or one shared with you — the
  one you see when you open `/`. It is marked **Default** and applies only to you.
* **Set as workspace default** (Owners and Admins, on a dashboard you own) makes
  it the home screen for every teammate who hasn't picked their own default. It is
  marked **Workspace** and becomes visible to everyone in the workspace.

Without either, you land on the dashboard you own that changed most recently, or
on the built-in **Overview** if you have none.

## Share a dashboard

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Share…" icon="share-nodes">
    In **Dashboard actions**, choose **Share…** (only the dashboard's owner sees
    it).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick who can access" icon="lock">
    Under **Who can access?**, choose **Only me**, **Everyone in workspace**
    (view-only for everyone), or **Selected people**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set each person's access" icon="user-pen">
    For **Selected people**, search for teammates and set each to **Can view** or
    **Can edit**, then click **Save**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Shared dashboards appear in teammates' selectors with **Shared by** and your
name. People with **Can edit** can rename the dashboard and customize its layout;
only you can share or delete it. Switching back to **Only me** removes everyone's
access.

## Know the limits

* 20 dashboards per person, per workspace.
* 30 widgets per dashboard, and one of each widget type — so 16 in practice today.
* Dashboard names: 60 characters.
* **Selected people**: up to 100 teammates per dashboard.

## FAQ
