A2P 10DLC (Application-to-Person, 10-Digit Long Code) is the US carrier
registration required to send business texts from a standard 10-digit local number.
Carriers require every business (a brand) and every texting use case (a
campaign) to be registered with The Campaign Registry (TCR), the industry body
that keeps the list. Registered senders can send more messages per day and get
reliable delivery. Unregistered texts are filtered or blocked.
In short: 1) Connect Twilio or Telnyx. 2) Register your business as a brand
and wait for approval. 3) Register your texting use case as a campaign and attach
your numbers.
Autocampaign AI handles registration for both Twilio and
Telnyx from inside the app. You fill in two forms and
Autocampaign AI submits them to the carriers on your behalf.
10DLC applies to US mobile numbers. If you only message outside the US, you
may not need it. Registering is still recommended for reliable delivery.
Registration has a strict order because each step depends on the one before:
1
Connect your provider
Connect Twilio or Telnyx first. A
provider is the phone company behind your
texting numbers. Brand and campaign registration run through your connected account.
2
Register your Brand
Submit your business details. The brand must be approved before you can
register a campaign.
3
Create a Messaging Service / Profile
A campaign must be linked to a messaging service (Twilio) or messaging profile
(Telnyx). This is the container your provider uses to group your numbers.
4
Register your Campaign
Submit your use case, sample messages, and how people agree to receive your texts.
5
Attach phone numbers
Assign numbers to the messaging service so they send under the approved campaign.
You cannot register a campaign until the brand shows an approved status
(APPROVED, VERIFIED, or ACTIVE). Trying earlier returns: “Brand is not
approved yet (current status: …). Wait for approval before registering the campaign.”
Go to your SMS channel’s Brand & Campaign tab and click Register 10DLC
Brand (also available as the first step of the setup wizard). The Create Brand
drawer has three sections.

Click Create Brand. You’ll see “10DLC brand submitted for carrier
registration.” The brand starts as Pending and updates automatically as the
carrier reviews it.
Your EIN and legal business name must exactly match your IRS records. A
mismatch is the most common reason a brand is rejected.
Once your brand is approved, open the Brand & Campaign tab and click
Create new A2P Campaign. Fill in:
Brand & use case
A2P Brand — your approved brand.
Use case — pick from 15 options with monthly pricing, e.g. Marketing
(10/mo),∗∗Mixed∗∗(10), 2FA (10),∗∗AccountNotification∗∗(10),
Customer Care (10),∗∗LowVolumeMixed∗∗(2), Sole Proprietor ($2).
Messaging service
Either create a new messaging service/profile (enter a name) or select an
existing one. The campaign is linked to it.
Campaign description & opt-in flow
Campaign description — minimum 40 characters. Describe what the
campaign is used for.
Opt-in flow — minimum 40 characters (max 2048). Describe exactly how
people agree to receive your texts (opt-in).
Required by carriers.
Sample #3–#5 — optional. Provide realistic examples of what you’ll send.
Message content flags
Check any that apply: embedded links, phone numbers, direct lending / loan
content, or age-gated content. Carriers use these to assess your campaign.
Auto-reply messages (optional)
Optional opt-in confirmation, opt-out confirmation, and help replies
(20–320 characters each). If you leave keywords unset, Autocampaign AI applies standard
defaults: opt-in START, YES; opt-out STOP, CANCEL, END, QUIT, UNSUBSCRIBE;
help HELP, INFO.
Click Create. You’ll see “10DLC campaign submitted for carrier
registration.” The campaign starts as In progress.
Your sample messages and opt-in flow must be consistent with each other and
with your website. Carriers reject campaigns whose samples don’t match the stated
use case or whose opt-in description is vague.
Brand verification is often quick; campaign approval typically takes 1–2
business days. Some use cases (like political or charity) may take longer
because carriers check them more closely.
What's the difference between a brand and a campaign?
A brand is your business identity (registered once). A campaign is a
specific texting use case (marketing, 2FA, notifications). One brand can have
multiple campaigns.
Do I need an EIN? What if I'm a sole proprietor?
Standard brands require an EIN (your business tax ID). Sole proprietors can
register using the Sole Proprietor brand type / use case ($2/mo). It allows
fewer messages per day and has a lighter verification path.
Can I edit my sample messages after approval?
Changing a campaign’s use case or samples generally means the carrier reviews it
again. Register the campaign that matches how you’ll actually message.
Do daily limits depend on my brand?
Yes. How many messages you can send per day is set by your brand trust score,
which the carriers assign during vetting.
Are opt-out keywords included automatically?
Yes. If you don’t set custom keywords, Autocampaign AI applies standard opt-out
(STOP, CANCEL, END, QUIT, UNSUBSCRIBE), opt-in (START, YES), and help
(HELP, INFO) keywords. See Opt-out management.
Almost always because the business details don’t match official records. Check
that your Legal Business Name, EIN, and address exactly match your
IRS/official records, then edit and resubmit. Non-profits: a .gov/.org
website mismatch is also common.
Why do I see 'Brand is not approved yet' when creating a campaign?
The brand badge isn’t green yet. Wait until it shows Approved / Verified
before registering a campaign. The campaign form stays locked until the brand is approved.
Why was my campaign rejected (TCR Rejected / MNO Rejected)?
Common causes: opt-in flow too vague, sample messages that don’t match the use
case, or missing STOP/HELP handling in samples. Links to a website that doesn’t
describe the texting program also cause rejections. Tighten your opt-in
description and samples, then resubmit.
Why does Twilio say 'Customer Profile is not compliant'?
Twilio’s own business profile (called TrustHub) isn’t approved yet. Complete
Twilio’s business profile verification in the Twilio Console, then retry brand
registration in Autocampaign AI.
Why can't I delete my brand?
“Cannot delete brand: N campaign(s) still connected. Delete the campaigns
first.” Remove the connected campaigns before deleting the brand.
